The Mawlid - The Blessed Birth Of The Prophet

This book, which is a lesser known work of Imam Ibn Kathir, seeks to present the circumstances surrounding Quraysh and ‘Abd al-Muttalib, the grandfather of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), some of the premonitory dreams and oracular announcements of his coming, and the birth itself and early years of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), some of his outstanding merits and noble qualities of character, and traditions relating to his high position as the Chosen One (Mustafa) and Beloved (habib) of Allah and Seal of the Messengers of Allah. The author’s careful choice of traditions and his sifting the original material from the earliest sources is here reinforced by the modern editors of the text and their judicious checking and assessment of the traditions cited.

Ibn Kathir

The Imam, hafiz and historian ‘Imad ad-Din Abu’l-Fida’ Isma’il ibn ‘Umar ibn Kathir was born in 701/1301 near Busra in Syria, and grew up in Damascus where he studied the traditional sciences of Islam with a wide variety of teachers, among the most famous of them being Shaykh ‘Alam ad-Din al-Qasim ibn Muhammad al-Barzali and Hafiz Jamal ad-Din Abu’l-Hajjaj Yusuf ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahman al-Mizzi. However, it is as a student of Shaykh al-Islam Taqi ad-Din Ahmad ibn ‘Abd al-Halim ibn Taymiyah that he is best remembered. He is well known for his history al-Bidayah wa’n-nihayah, his work on the biography of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) as-Sirat an-nabawiyyah and his work on Qur’anic commentary Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Azim. He died in Damascus on Thursday 26th Sha’ban 774/1373 and is buried there by the side of his shaykh Ibn Taymiyah, may Allah have mercy on them both, in the Sufi Graveyard.

The Islamic Months

The Islamic Months

A detailed treatise on the merits, virtues and practices for the months of the Islamic year. The book is filled with copious references from the Qur’an, hadith, and statements of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), the jurists and senior scholars-thereby increasing the value of the book.

Translation of Hafiz Ibn Rajab al-Hambali’s classical work, Lata’if al-Ma’arif fima li Mawasim al’Am min al-Waza’if.

Translated by Mawlana Mahomed Mahomedy

Zayn an-Din ‘Abd ar-Rahman ibn Ahmad ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahman (known as Rajab) ibn al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Abi’l-Barakat Mas’ud al-Baghdadi ad-Dimashqi al-Hanbali (736-795 AH). Rajab was the nickname of his grandfather ‘Abd ar-Rahman, perhaps because he was born in that month. Born in Baghdad, Ibn Rajab learned much from his father, who himself was a great scholar, and then studied in Egypt and Damascus where he settled down until he died. Among his eminent teachers were Abu’l-Fath Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Mayduni, Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Khabbaz, Ibrahim ibn Dawud al-Attar, Abu’l-Haram al-Qalanisi, and Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah. He was a colleague of the famous hadith expert Al-Hafiz Abu’l-Fadhl al-Iraqi. He devoted himself to the subject until he became an expert in all the sciences related to hadith. He then taught hadith and fiqh according the Hanbali school in the Jami’ Bani Umayyah and other seats of learning in Damascus. His famous students include scholars like Abu’l-Fadhl Ahmad ibn Nasr ibn Ahmad, the Mufti of Egypt (d. 844 AH), Dawud ibn Sulayman al-Mawsili (d. 844 AH)

He was a leading scholar of the Hanbali school. His work al-Qawa’id al-Kubra fi al-Furu’ is clear evidence of his expertise in fiqh, demonstrating an extreme, even exhaustiveknowledge of the intricacies of detailed fiqh issues.

He was known for piety and righteousness. His sermons were considered most effective, full of blessing and beneficial. People of all schools were unanimous as to his quality, and hearts of the people were full of love for him. He was not involved in any worldly business, nor did he visit people of material position.

He wrote a detailed 20-Volume scholarly commentary on the Sunan at-Tirmidhi, a commentary on part of Sahih al-Bukhar, a Dhayl (supplement) to Tabaqat al-Hanabilah, al-Lata’if fi wasa’if al-ayyam, Bayan fadl ‘ilm as-Salaf ‘ala al-Khalaf.

Among his best known most referenced works is Jami’ al-‘Ulum wa al-Hikam, the commentary on al-Arba’un (the forty hadith) of Imam Nawawi. He added eight hadith to the original 42 and commented in detail on all of these fifty hadith. This commentary discusses all aspects of the hadith, the chain of narrations, the narrators and the text.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalani said of him, ‘’He was a great expert in the sciences of hadith – the historical accounts of narrators, the chains of narrations, and meaning of the text.

The Key To Arabic (Book 2)

The Key To Arabic (Book 2)

The Key to Arabic Book Two builds on the reading and writing skills taught in the first book of the series by introducing students to simple sentence structures and key aspects of Arabic grammar, together with a basic vocabulary of well over three hundred words and expressions.

Students are taught how to greet people and say goodbye, how to introduce themselves and describe where they live, as well as speaking about their nationality. They are also taught some aspects of everyday etiquette.

Through this book, students gain an understanding of non-verbal and verbal sentences and are introduced to past and present tense verbs in their simplest singular forms. They also learn about attached and detached singular pronouns, uses of the three different cases (nominative, accusative and genitive), masculine and feminine nouns and adjectives, interrogatives (questioning words), adverbs, prepositions and many other points of grammar. Explanations are kept short and simple, and the use of colour coding throughout the book assists students in learning to recognise the various case endings and verb conjugations more readily. Extensive exercises throughout the book provide ample opportunity for the reinforcement and application of the topics covered.

A4 workbook format , Full colour throughout.
