Natural or man-made disasters, poverty and other challenges are a fact of life for many people in various parts of the world today. South Africans in general are very fortunate to be living in a country that is not only peaceful but is also developed in diverse fields. However, whilst enjoying the blessings of this prosperity, South Africans need to also reach out and help others who may not be so fortunate, whether they be within or outside of South Africa’s borders.
The Al-Imdaad Foundation is a non-profit humanitarian aid relief organisation (NGO) registered in the Republic of South Africa, dedicated to providing humanitarian services in crisis and non-crisis situations to most needy orphans, widows and destitute, irrespective of race, religion, culture, creed and geographical boundary.
The Al-Imdaad Foundation aspires to excel in humanitarian relief, providing humanitarian services with the highest level of compassion, professionalism and care under the supervision of a team of professionals from South Africa and abroad.
All trustees and personnel of the Al-Imdaad Foundation strive to serve humanity with the skills and expertise that they are blessed with. The team comprises of Theologians, Academics, Accountants, IT Specialists, Medical Personnel & Paramedics, Attorneys, Businessmen and other voluntary aid workers.
Al Imdaad Foundation (South Africa), a sister organisation and more commonly known as “Friends of the Suffering” has been registered purely to render humanitarian services in South Africa. This relief organisation has been registered with the South African Revenue Serviceunder Section 18a for tax exemption benefits to South African donors and is a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO).
The Al Imdaad Foundation is a signatory to the Code of Conductfor the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movements and NGO’s in Disaster Relief. The Foundation supports the Code of Conduct and strives to incorporate its principles in its humanitarian work.
The Al Imdaad Foundation has registered with Proudly South Africanand is committed to portray its activities, both locally & abroad in the name of the people of South Africa. Various meetings with representatives of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation & South African Embassies in the countries of our activities have taken place to enhance our commitment to a proudly South African effort, thereby ensuring South Africa’s place in the International community of humanitarian aid workers.
The Al Imdaad Foundation transfers all funds collected to overseas projects with the permission of the South African Reserve Bank. We are grateful to Reserve Bank for its prompt approval of our various applications to remit funds abroad.
The Al Imdaad Foundation has registered offices in Indonesia, Jordan, Australia and the United Kingdom. These offices are established to take care of our various projects in these regions and to act as fund raising partners. The foundation is at an advanced stage to establish further representative offices in other parts of the world. The South African Department of International Relations and Cooperationand its various embassies are kept informed of our activities globally.
The Al Imdaad Foundation is registered with the United Nations Department of Economic & Social Affairs. The NGO Branch is the focal point within the United Nations for Non-Governmental Organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Al-Imdaad Foundation has been working in more than 36 countries by responding to disaster zones, providing humanitarian aid along with long term sustainable development programmes such as healthcare, nutrition, shelter, construction and education. Al-Imdaad Foundation UK is pleased to announce new voluntary opportunities to drive forward the work the charity undertakes in this field.
We are keen to hear from any individuals who are enthusiastic and passionate about helping people who are in need throughout the world.
By volunteering your free time, skills, knowledge and expertise you will definitely gain huge personal satisfaction from knowing that you have helped to improve the lives of people around the world who are less fortunate and in difficult situations.
Due to the lack of job opportunities in this current climate there is no better way to gain experience than volunteering for AIF – you will learn new skills and increase your confidence and boost your career prospects. We are also happy to provide any references to your potential employers but depending on how things progress some of the voluntary posts may be considered for paid positions.
