This is a translation of a widely read Urdu book 'Din O Shari’at.'

It is intended to give a general [yet more detailed understanding than the author’s other book “What is Islam” of the basic tenets of Islam and the basis upon which they are founded. It is based on a series of lectures given by the author Maulana Manzoor Nomani to university students in Lucknow.

The author, the late Maulana Manzoor Nu'mani is a very well known Hadith Scholar in the Indian Sub-Continent. He had been particularly active in the field of explaining the teachings and approach of the established religious schools to the general public, and particularly to the secular-educated public. His books are very widely read.

He was a very active teacher and lecturer and has written many books, booklet and magazine articles. Some of his best known works are Ma'ariful Hadith (a very lucid and comprehensive 4-Volume introduction to the Hadith for the general reader) Islam kiyaa hai? (What Islam is) and khomeini and the Iranian revolution (a well researched exposition of the origin and the open and hidden doctrines of the Ithna 'Asharia Shi'as.

He also established the journal Al-Furqan, now under the editorship of his son Maulana Khalilur Rahman Sajjad Nu'mani.

Mashallah this set of books and CD are absolutely fantastic, my children’s all have mp3 players, they upload it and concentrate on each section at a time along with the book, as they finish each section, I upload another chapter on to their mp3 player, I have seen an enormous improvement in my children’s ability to read the quran.
