Masjid al-Aqsa is referred to in the Holy Qur'an many times. Allah Most High says that he has 'blessed' the land for all His creation. This beautiful Mosque is in Jerusalem, and was the second house of Allah built soon after the Ka'bah in Makkah.

There are many hadiths which praise Jerusalem and make it sacred. Al-Aqsa was the first qibla for Muslims.

The Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came to Masjid al-Aqsa on the incredible night journey Al-Isra' and Al-Mi'raj.
