Muslims everywhere are going through a period of uncertainty, turmoil and suffering. Throughout the world, there appears to be a concerted effort to wipe out the very presence of Muslims. Bosnia, Somalia and Algeria are the better known examples of this onslaught, but Muslims are under attack in many other countries. Kashmir, Cambodia and Burma are examples.

In the West too, Muslims live in uncertainty. Questions abound:

''What should we do? Should we vote? Whom should we vote for? Why don't we get guidance from the Ulama?''

Islam does provide an answer, but the answers for Muslims are different from the answers for Non-Believers.

A student of Shaykh al-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya rahimahullah asked seven questions . Hadhrat Shaykh's reply was published in a form of a book 'Al-E'tidaal fee Maraatib ar-Rijaal' This books not only provides answers to the problems we are facing but serves as a guide according to which a Muslims life can be conducted.

It should be studied carefully, so that full benefit can be derived from the advice and guidance of Hadhrat Shaykh rahimahullah.

Mawlana Ashraf Ali Thanawi (1863-1943) was one of the greatest Scholars of the last century. In his era some “New-Age Muslims” had fallen prey to Empiricism, and had begun to challenge and object to the most fundamental tenets of Islamic belief.

Mawlana Thanawi proves that the objections raised by the Western-oriented Muslims are irrational. Not only are Islamic creedal tenets defined in revelation (the Qur’an and the Hadiths), but they are rational as well. In his famous treatise, Answer to Modernism, he lays down seven principles by which all of these modern objections can be refuted. The study of these principles will prove to be an intellectual tool for Muslims living in contemporary times. These principles will rationally aid the Muslims to refute all modern notions in contradiction with the Qur’an and the Hadiths .

English translation of At-Targheeb Wa at-Tarheeb

May Allah reward the honourable scholars of Hadith who have compiled the Ahaadith of the Prophet sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam on different subjects. This book Awareness & Apprehension, being the translation of At-Targheeb Wat-Tarheeb, is one of them. Ahaadith in this book are selected from different source books of Hadith on different subjects, like deeds that fetch varying degrees of reward, and wrongs that call for retribution.

This book is more comprehensive than all previous compilations of similar volume, and in terms of soundness of it's Ahaadith, stands above them. The division of it's chapters is more suitable. As for the translation, it is simple and where necessary, a brief commentary is added.

Any observation on the line of transmission that the compiler has made is retained only in the Arabic text, and scholarly discussion of a literary nature is generally done away with, and so are the Juristic verdicts.

The Ahaadith are narrated only to give glad tidings and to warn - to create awareness and to admonish, so that one may be encouraged to do good deeds and refrain from evil deeds.

In translating the Ahaadith, the translations of eminent scholars Like Hadhrat Shaykh Zakariyya or the author of Mazaahir al-Haq had been under observation The translation, therefore, is helpful not only to put the ummah on righteousness but also to preach and invite people and pursue the mission of Da'wah.

This Darul Isha'at edition has serial numbers of Hadith in sequence, as also of each chapter. This is helpful in tracing any hadith. For this purpose we have also prepared a comprehensive index.
