The importance of Islamic education and learning is emphasised especially with regards to women. The responsibility incumbent on a believer in spreading the message of Allah and His Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم is outlined, as well as the possible consequences if we fail to collectively take part in fulfilling this responsibility. Part of this duty involves making various forms of sacrifices including financial. The virtues and blessings of spending in the way of Allah, as outlined in the Quran and ahaadeeth are elucidated in the latter part of the talk.
An in depth and detailed account of the different stages of the journey of the ruh (soul) in light of the Qur'an and the Hadeeth. Furthermore, mankinds ignorance with regards to the very purpose of the ruh is highlighted. Particular reference is made to one's worldly actions and the eternal destination of the hereafter.
Is the understanding of Deen as simple as picking up a copy of an English transalation of the Quran or a book of hadeeth and interpreting it oneself as is understood by many of us today. Our Beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم once said as part of a longer hadeeth related by Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibnu Abbas رضى الله عنه and recorded by Imam Tirmidhi 'he who speaks with regards to the Quran according to his own opinion then let him prepare his abode in the fire.' We remain indebted to our pious predecessors in particular to the four great Imams and leaders of the authentic schools of thought, who concluded that withour perfect understanding and spiritual gudance one cannot obtain true comprehension of Deen.
One has not truly believed until he comes to love the Prophet of Allah
صلى الله عليه و سلم more than himself and the whole world. The
discourse outlines how the Prophet of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم is more
beloved to Allah than His Angels, and His whole creation. Achieving
this most lofty state is the subject of this heart rendering and
inspiring appeal to all who profess to love the Messenger of Allah صلى
الله عليه و سلم
‘None of you has truly believed, until he desires for his brother, that which he desires for himself’ declared the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم. One can never hope to attain Taqwa (fear of Allah) and be truly successful in religion until one adopts and practices selflessness. It was the selflessness and the self-sacrifice of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and the Sahabah رضي الله عنه which was responsible for Islam reaching us today. Islam has placed a great emphasis on the spirit of sacrifice within many of its teachings. Selfishness is a disease which is rampant amongst people, both Muslims and non-Muslims. This talk discusses some aspects of selfishness.
Allah سبحانه و تعالى in His grace has gifted
the believers with an opportunity to regain spiritual strength in the
blessed month of Ramadhan. Unfortunately for many the blessed month and
all of its virtues pass by without having achieved the Mercy and
Forgiveness of Allah سبحانه و تعالى
Two of the Divine Attributes of Allah سبحانه و تعالى often mentioned in the Quran are that of Mercy and Forgiveness. Allah سبحانه و تعالى mentions that man has been created weak and it is natural for him to sin. However, Allah سبحانه و تعالى has left open the door of repentance for those who falter. Allah سبحانه و تعالى loves those who sin and upon realisation immediately repent sincerely and in doing so they may attain closeness to Allah سبحانه و تعالى . The conditions for forgiveness to be accepted are discussed therein.
In a verse of the Quran Allah says ‘indeed the hills of Safa and Marwa are from the symbols of Allah’. In another verse of the Quran, Allah says ‘and he who reveres the symbols of Allah, then this (reverence) stems from the taqwa of the heart’. Two lifeless hills are given status in the religion of Allah on the basis that they are connected to Allah and His religion. Hence we are required to accept and follow without question. This is the spirit of Islam; submission, obedience and respect. In this way there are many more deserving of respect but which we fail to recognise due to the atmosphere we live in today. Unfortunately Muslims are being deeply affected by this notion of disrespect and are suffering as a result. What will be the state of our children when they are being taught anarchy right from the beginning?
Allah & His Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم
love the excellent characteristic of remaining silent over vain speech
and have exhorted the believers to adopt this exemplary trai. And
indeed, one of the beautiful qualities of a believer is that he only
speaks good otherwise he remains silent. Unfortunately, in this day and
age, we have adopted an un-Islamic approach to this sphere of life and
taken on board the maxim'... words will never hurt...'
As a result of this, we deem the deeds of the tongue as being
insignificant in comparison to other deeds whereas the reality is that
the tongue can lead one to paradise or hell. This talk also outlines
the manner, conditions and circumstances in which we have been
instructed to speak by the Quran and Sunnah
Today we live in a materialistic society where materialism has become a religion and a philosophy in itself. The philosophy of it is that people believe in that which is tangible, which is physically present, which can be felt touched or smelt. As a result, spirituality holds no bases within society, whereas, for a Muslim his whole religion rests upon spirituality. It is not the physical organ which brings life to a man rather it is the spirit. and it is the diseases of the heart/spirit which are far destructive then the physical diseases. That’s exactly why Rasulullah صلى الله عليه و سلم has said, ‘Know, there is a peace of flesh within the body. If it is corrupt then the whole body is corrupt and if is pure then the whole body is pure. Know that this flesh is the heart/spirit.’ And for such a person who purifies his soul, Allah says, ‘He who purifies the soul is successful and he has suffered who lets his soul become wayward.’
