Today we live in a materialistic society where materialism has become a religion and a philosophy in itself. The philosophy of it is that people believe in that which is tangible, which is physically present, which can be felt touched or smelt. As a result, spirituality holds no bases within society, whereas, for a Muslim his whole religion rests upon spirituality. It is not the physical organ which brings life to a man rather it is the spirit. and it is the diseases of the heart/spirit which are far destructive then the physical diseases. That’s exactly why Rasulullah صلى الله عليه و سلم has said, ‘Know, there is a peace of flesh within the body. If it is corrupt then the whole body is corrupt and if is pure then the whole body is pure. Know that this flesh is the heart/spirit.’ And for such a person who purifies his soul, Allah says, ‘He who purifies the soul is successful and he has suffered who lets his soul become wayward.’
